Problem Loan Management Training for the Egyptian Banking Institute

GBRW designed and delivered an advanced four-day blended training workshop to provide Senior SME and Commercial banking professionals with a comprehensive understanding of problem loan management concepts, tools, and techniques.

The training was divided into four consecutive parts, with the four half-day sessions consisting of the following components:

  • Session I provided participants with an opportunity to discuss essential problem loan management themes such as the impact of business strategies, defining problem loans to facilitate early detection, causes of problem loans, the objectives of problem loan management, and how to measure success.
  • Session II involved participants discussing problem loan management tools such as proactive strategies to reduce institutional blind spots, the use of early warning signals and response procedures, and organizational challenges relating to a Stressed Asset Management Unit (“SAMU”).
  • Session III gave participants the opportunity to explore, discuss, and apply a “Big Picture” approach to analysing problem loans, the importance of assessing management, and crucial restructuring concepts and tools such as projections and essential loan terms and conditions.
  • Session IV facilitated the exploration of business considerations as workout options, strategies, and alternatives and matters to consider when negotiating a restructuring plan with cooperative and problematic borrowers.
